I would love some feedback...
As for the old website... It will be getting an overhaul...the wedding stuff will come off and it will be strictly for portrait clients. I will be able to split up the galleries. There is going to be some awesome stuff posted up there....thanks to all my great clients!

PS I got my Nikon D3 today and it exceeds my expectations. I can not wait to get out and play with it...hmmmm maybe this saturday's session.
I did make the mistake of letting Jeff try it...now he wants one!!!

What's new....

Well, the studio is almost finished...flooring goes in on Feb 12th. Yeahoo!
Now I just have to decide what I want for large prints....it's always so hard to decide!
I had a beautiful little baby girl in our home last night for her newborn picture's. We got some real cute one's.... be on the lookout for those!
My Nikon D3 finally came in so I am going to pick that up today...very exciting!! I can't wait to try it out.

These are a little late but better late then never! These are picture's from our Christmas holidays! Client's stuff comes first.
We had a wonderful visit with both our families and had a lot of nice quality time together. We ate to much, drank to much, laughed to much but could not get enough hugs from our families. We miss them greatly but LOVE seeing them as much as possible!
Below is a picture in a series of four I took. I love those little words on rocks so I got four different words.. put each in a different setting and am going to frame all four in a collection on metallic paper! Here's strength!

The drive to the B.C. Ferries

With Starbucks in hand we hit the road at 6:30am with good intentions of getting to Victoria nice and early..hmmmm
There was ton's of snow on the highway and everywhere you looked there were cars in the ditch so we took it nice and easy but I was sure glad we have 4x4. The picture of the semi is near Hope...as many may know...snow and lower mainland drivers do not mix...accidents galore!

Highway closed..pretty detour ahead!

Just after Hope there was a major accident that closed the highway...after sitting on the highway for almost 2 hours they turned us around and re-routed us through Mission. What a beautiful drive...the two with the blue sky were taken out the window by myself..yes I was driving but just to make sure we didn't crash Jeff took the steering wheel from the passenger seat! Don't worry I slowed down...
The black and white print we stopped and got out of the vehicle to take..it is now a gorgeous 24x36 print hanging at the top of our stairs. I am glad we took the time to stop for that one...

Waiting for the BC Ferry...give me some wine!

After a 12 hour drive to the Ferries from Kelowna ( should have been 5) we just wanted to get on the Ferry and get to Jeff's parents...unfortunately we missed the boat and had to wait for the next one...argh. Bring on the wine!

French Beach B.C. a green Christmas!

It was so nice once we got to the Island. We got to see Jeff's family and we had a great time. I missed the snow a bit...well... that was until we got out for a drive and a photo expedition to French beach. I needed a new shot of the parents for my family wall so why not go out to the beach? We picked up a Starbucks and went for a little drive. I love the ocean...the sound of the waves crashing into shore and the smell of the ocean is one of my favorite life experiences...add a camera in hand and I'm in heaven!

On our way back to Kelowna we stopped just short of the toll booth on the Coquihalla to get some beautiful winter picture's...Echo had fun romping in the snow!

On the way back to Calgary there was a herd of mountain goats off the side of the road...so I quickly pulled over and got some great shot's! You gotta love that 70-200mm lens, gets you in so nice and close :)

Studio update...

Well I dare not take my camera out into the house right now..it is a dust ball!
I cannot believe how messy the sanding stage is... it looks like someone sprinkled flour all over everything!
Things are going well though...drywall is up and ready to be primed tomorrow. My wonderful bride and groom from July own a painting business so we have hired them to come in the weekend and paint for us! Can't wait! Carpet is scheduled to go in Feb 19th and then we are good to go...business as usual :)
I can't wait for my clients to see their slideshows on a 110 inch screen! Yep...home theatre here we come..heee heee

I was just going through their photo's from last weekend and I loved this one so just had to post it!
These two were so much fun and so sexy together, Jeff and I could have kept going for hours! Hee Hee! Unfortunately it was quite chilly out but they braved the weather making the picture's look like they were taken on a summer evening!

Super exciting...a new studio!

We have been super busy starting on our new studio in the basement!
Drywall is expected to go up next week! I am really excited on how it will all look when it is completed...right now it feels like it's taking forever with all the mess..but it's only been a week :) Lot's of decisions to make too.
Lock Renovations are doing the work and they have been phenomenal! They are super nice and so quick and do excellent work...thanks guys for making this go as smoothly as one could hope!
I will be posting some picture's this upcoming weekend!

Merry Christmas everyone!
I just wanted to thank everone for making this such a successful and fullfilling year! We had a blast and made some great friends along the way...

I spoiled myself! hee heee
I just went and picked up a new lens... 85mm 1.4. Whoo hooo!
I have wanted it for a bit and it finally came in! Now I am just waiting on my D3. OK enough with the technical talk...For portrait's it is kick a**.
Here's a few picture's of Echo in my office. I had just picked her up from the groomers and she looked sooooo pretty I just had to try my new toy out! Excellent results!

If anyone is looking for a dog groomer you HAVE to use the Bandbox. They are located on 17th ave and my dog LOVES going there. Michele is a professional dog groomer and really knows her stuff. I highly recommend her and her staff!

I had a blast with these two!
This was the first time they had their picture's taken by a professional photographer and they were great! We had a ton of fun and they looked fabulous whatever they did. I may have to call these two out in the spring to have a fun shoot "for me" and drag them around the city to a couple of spot's I have been dying to try out.

Rachel is the sister of Lianne who's wedding we shot in October. We were so excited to hear that they were going to get married also! Here we did some engagement shot's for them...Rachel even had her henna done.

A couple of weeks ago we sadly had to put our furry child Kane down...he had a degenerative spinal disease and he was no longer able to get up. His antic's will be missed...he was always up to something. Good or bad.
This Christmas... hug and kiss your loved ones and don't forget what Christmas really is about and how much everyone means to you.
I am sure glad I have so many wonderful photo's of him to look back on..I am sure as time goes on it will get easier.

I had a great time out at the PPOC Alberta convention in Canmore...we had some wonderful speakers and I learned so much and came back sooo inspired and full of new idea's. I also had a lot of fun hanging out with my fellow photographers/great friends. I love the fact all these uber talented photographers come to inspire and teach you all the things they have learned!
I bought a little point and shoot camera ( ..wow is it small) to take with me. It's the size of a deck of cards so it's really handy to catch some embarrassing shot's of people...including myself! I thought I would be nice and not post some of the really crazy one's because I know they would take revenge upon me :)

Tammy and Kevin...the wedding sneak peek

Here's three that caught my eye..the are so many awesome ones so in the next few weeks I will be posting more.
This was one of my favorite wedding's this year..it was small and intimate and everyone was just so much fun!
We met at McDougall and then went to the Ranche in Fish Creek...the weather was odd....one minute it was sunny and the next minute we were getting some wet snow! All this wacky weather made for very dramatic lighting as you can see in the car picture. (Wowee that car...Jeff and I were in heaven!!)
One moment I will have to post a picture of in the next week or so was...
just before Tammy was going to head down the stairs in the Ranche to get married she started jumping up and down with her hands clasped under her chin because she was so excited to be marrying Kevin. It was soooo cute. I think sometimes people get carried away with the planning of the wedding and they forget just how exciting this moment really is.
Tammy's spontaneous emotion really is what it is all about...marrying the man you love....I wish you two all the best and Jeff and I were honoured to be there to share it with you :)

I am trying to get away from the generic Christmas cards so I am custom designing them now. They come in 4x8 and 5x7 with envelopes. Choose your favorite picture and I will create a beautiful card for you. Your picture is going to be the focal point.

We had beautiful weather on this Tuesday afternoon..it was just a little windy!
It had been a bit since I had last done their picture's and I was amazed at what a beautiful little girl Cheyann was now...not a little baby anymore. Not to meantion she is super charming!
I love photographing these guys they are so natural infront of the camera and it show's who they really are and how they feel and interact together. I love it...

As promised here are a few more...what a beautiful wedding. Lot's of family from all over and their speech's at the reception were so touching...you can feel the love and the closeness, I think that is so cool! The ceremony was at the Lougheed house and the reception was in the penthouse of the Paliser. The flowers were stunning, the food was soooo yummy and I loved the slide show Oliva's sister and husband in law put together. There were many super shot's of Jack and Oliva's travels as Jack is a bit of a photographer himself!
It is sooo hard choosing what to put on the blog...I would love to post hundreds.
I guess I choose what catches my eye when I go to post and it always differs from day to day..

I got a kick out of this picture...this guy thought he might just run through and not get caught..WRONG!!!

Here you go guys...thanks for being so patient because I know you were super excited to see some!
Lisa and Rory are so cute together...they are so in love, I think it's great. We did their e-session in Princes Island Park which had alot of meaning for these guys...this is where Rory proposed right on the steps where the first picture was taken. Well.... actually it was a little bit over from the exact spot but there was a homeless person crashed out in their spot and he didn't look like he was going anywhere anytime soon and Jeff didn't want to roll him out of the way :)

Rory is a Canucks fan and so is Jeff so when these two put on their fan gear to wrestle out the winner Jeff was rooting for Rory! I had dibs on Lisa and she won! haha Girls rule!

Shawn, Harmony, Grace and Mac have got to be the most fun family ever. I love photographing these kids they are hilarious!

While the family was having a leaf fight one of the leaves got caught between Shawn's glasses and his eye so Mac runs up to me laughing and proceeds to tell me his dad was now blind like a pirate!

Well their wedding was finally here and we had such a great time with Lianne and Jeff...
As I had mentioned before when we did their e-session it felt like we knew them forever so we were really excited to do their wedding pictures!
We met up before the ceremony to do the family and bridal crew shots as they were having a sunset wedding ceremony aboard the SS Moyie. It was simply beautiful. Their family is so warm and loving and Donny and Randy (the groomsmen) had us laughing at their antic's! I hope you guy's enjoy these few picture's...have fun on your honeymoon and hopefully I will have some more picture's posted when you get back :)

The weather had been on and off all day but we decided to try to get this session done anyways...
We had about 5 mins at Confed park and it started to pour and I mean crazy amounts of rain. So we decided to head to our house so we could finish our session in the studio but as we got near Hansen ranch the sun poked out...
I pulled over by the entrance to Hansen ranch and asked these two if they would mind if I photographed them right by the intersection.. They were for it! We got some great pictures and they even got to get their new SUV a bit muddy!

Matt and Jen's wedding was at Spruce Meadows and the weather could not have been better! The ceremony was so intimate and romantic..you could see how much Matt loves Jen when he looks at her. The bridal party were a blast and put up with all the things I wanted them to do! Haha... thanks guys! We had fun taking picture's in the barns but unfortunatly all the grooms had gone home so we didn't get to have a horse in our pictures.I was a little dissipointed...I kinda wanted to open the stall and sneak one out...tee hee.

WE LOVED THESE GUYS!!!!
Andrew had us laughing the whole time!
Once these two were officially hitched we were off to Lake Bonavista for the photo shoot. Of course we had to do a quick stop at 7-11 for Slurpee's! What fun!
After all the family pic's were finished big dark clouds started rolling in so we worked our way back towards the parking lot just in time....as soon as we got to the car's.... the rain came down. Talk about lucky!
Because we finished earlier than expected there was still some time before the reception so everyone headed into Brewster's for a beer!

On our way back home from Lianne & Jeff's photo shoot we stopped on the side of the road to get a cool sunset picture and we noticed a hawk or eagle ( not sure which one )on the side of the road... Jeff being the opportunist he is went after the grounded bird while I finished up the session. This guy doesn't really look like he wanted to have his picture taken does he?
Poor thing..it kinda looked like his wing was broken..I hope he will be alright.

We had a great evening with Jeff and Lianne, they are super cool people. We all went in our SUV to this sweet little spot we know of and got some great evening shot's.

I do think they were wondering where we were taking them at one point!

Jeff (my hubby) and I commented on how it seems like we have known these two for quite awhile, they were so easy going and open. Their wedding is October 6th of this year at Heritage park which is going to be a blast! These two are so good together...I think you will agree as you look through their photo's!

Little Jackson....

well...he's not so little anymore! He's growing up :)
I had the pleasure of photographing this great family again out in Heritage Point. The last time I saw Jackson he was just a cute little baby.
The weather was really rainy but we used the deck overhead to protect us from the rain and one of my studio lights and got some great shot's! Lucky for me their backyard was like a park! Stunning yard, beautiful house and the nicest people, how lucky are we?. After our shoot Jeff and I stayed for a little visit having coffee, fruit and fresh baked biscuits...yummy! DO I have the best job or what????

These two had a beautiful wedding at the Willow Park Golf Course. The weather was perfect for an outdoor ceremony and Anneke looked stunning just like I thought she would :) Once these two were pronounced husband and wife they hopped into a golf cart and drove off into the sunset....WAIT...I followed with camera in hand and wedding party in tow to go take some pic's! haha! We had a ton of fun and these two were just as hot and steamy as they were at their e-session...Whew

Bjorn, Janne & Hayden..one cute family!

We finally got together to take some pictures and have a little fun! Every time we booked a date the weather did not co-operate but we finally got a great day!
I loved photographing these guys they were so natural together! The only bad part is when they asked us to sing to get Hayden to smile...yikes the way I sing or Jeff for that matter would have had him screaming in minutes! haha.

I had to add this picture....I could hear Janne and Bjorn behind me as I was taking Hayden's picture so I had to turn around and take a snapshot of them! Hayden was more interested in looking at the grass, leaves and stick's then at my camera...so I had enlisted the help of these two guys and they put 100% effort into it!.

What a great wedding! We got sooo many excellent shots I just couldn't post 5 or 6 so here's quite a few...
We had so much fun with these guy's. Kellie's dress and flowers were beautiful, the whole wedding party was gorgeous, Newport Grill was a great venue, the reception was a blast...and the speech's had me tearing up especially when Tony toasted Kellie...it was so sweet.

I just wanted to say how lucky I am to be a photographer.
I had a couple come over tonight to pick up their wedding photo's and I loved watching their reactions to the pictures. They were so sweet and they kept hugging and cuddling each other as they saw a picture that reminded them of a feeling they had that day. They are so in love and so right for each other and I just feel really lucky I was able to capture their day for them.
So as I sit here spending hours on my computer it was so refreshing to be reminded of how wonderful my clients are and how rewarding my job is.
Thank you guy's! You know who you are...the cutest couple ever :)

I had the pleasure of photographing this family out in High River...what a cool little town. It seems so laid back and everyone is so friendly.
Well these two twins were the cutest little guy's ever... I loved their shirt's...Thing 1 and Thing 2.
They were so busy exploring they didn't have "time" to hang around and get their picture taken..but we managed some great shots. These guys have a zest for life and it shows!

These two and their crew were soooo much fun!
The way Art looks at Courtney melts my heart...he totally adore's her and they were so uninhibited in front of the camera...Jeff and I got so many good shots. I see a sample album coming out of this wedding!!!
You guys were up for anything and were so cool...although I did get worried for a sec when one of the groomsmen opened his jacket to reveal 4 knives.
I was like...what the...?
Turns out they were a gift from Art to his guys...we did some crazy shot's involving those knives..I am glad no one walked buy while we were taking those pic's... they would have thought we were nuts!

These two are sooo cool!
They live up in Edmonton and are getting married in Calgary on Dec 29th and it's going to be so much fun! We are going to be doing some of their pictures in a pub and Kerri is willing to go outside no matter what the weather..I love her!! They had already had some e-session photo's done but we wanted to work together so they brought along their pup. I am not sure who had more fun?! I think the dog might have ...she was enjoying plowing through the creek cooling off and then running up to everyone and shaking! I wanted to take her home..she was so cute :) Thank you for bringing me a Slurpee...even though Jeff stole it :) You guys rock!

These two are super cute together, they love the outdoors and Matt loves to fish the Bow River. Unfortunately the water is a bit high right now to get any good shots close to the river so we found this beautiful little stream instead. They were so much fun..they even stood in the cold water in bare feet for about 20 min's! It was really refreshing?! ....wasn't it??? Got some awesome pictures though :)
They are getting married in August at Spruce Meadow's...I am really looking forward to that! Thanks guys!

Happy Friday the 13th!
Well....it looks like everything is up and running perfectly now so I am very happy!
For everyone who has been waiting for galleries to go up I will be uploading them over the next couple of day's between photo sessions! I will e-mail you with all the info as they go up. I will also be posting some new pictures up here in between doing everything else!
I am taking a day off today!! I am getting a pedicure and are having some of my wonderful friends over for a BBQ and fire pit...got to enjoy this great weather while we have it!

I was just going through the picture's I took of these two little cuties and came across this one and just had to post it! Pretty Princess...

Well this shoot was so much fun... Madeline could not wait to get the family pictures over and done with so she could get into her new "Pretty Princess" dress. She was simply adorable...after she was dressed she flew and twirled and I just clicked away! She also informed me that she was getting a new "Pretty Princess" bedroom now that she is going to be a big sister! Congratulations!!!

Well we made it! On two hours of sleep we stumbled our way to the airport. Thanks Kari-Ann for getting up so early to drive us!!! We were to excited to sleep on the plane so we were really in trouble when we arrived in Honolulu because they are 4 hours behind us! We hiked up Diamond head and saw the sights...got lost a few times while driving...Jeff said it was lack of sleep! YEAH RIGHT...Took some pictures, tried shaved ice for the first time...watched some windsurfers and then managed to get to the ship on time...I think they thought we were mental because it was now 1 am our time so in the last 48 hours we had only two hours sleep...we stumbled onto the ship, unpacked....ate a quick bite and slept like babies!

Kaua'i

They call this Island the Garden Isle...I can see why...this place took my breath away it was so lush. This is an Island we want to come back and stay at for at least a week. We drove up to the Waimea Canyon which they call the Grand Canyon of Hawaii. The final lookout point where you look down on the ocean was incredible...(second picture from the bottom)..you felt so small and so amazed at the same time...it is a memory that I will not soon forget. We stopped at a coffee plantation and had to bring some coffee back! I also bought a coffee mug that says " Sleep is a symptom of caffeine deprivation" ha ha.... that suit's me to a T. For those of you who know me know Jeff and I are coffee whores..so when we spotted a Starbucks on this island we just had to get one also! Weird seeing one on an island but a welcome sight :)

Maui

Did I ever get a sunburn this day....we rented a mustang convertible and the SPF 30 sunblock didn't really work that well...OUCH. There is always a cool breeze so you don't really feel that hot and it was so fun to have the wind blowing in your hair and feel the sun beating down on you..well... until later that evening! We went to a plantation, a few beach's and took the road to Hanna which was so cool...it winds through the lush mountainside and there are a ton of bridges that are one lane. Much to my disappointment there were not to many spots to pull over because of that skinny little road..it was killing me to not stop everywhere to take pictures.. Jeff and I tried shooting from the car but the drivers behind you do not take to kindly to slowing down for you every 5 mins or so! ha ha.

Hawaii..the Big Island

WOW WOW WOW! We walked on the lava fields until we got to the magma..man was it hot! Super cool,it felt like you were on another planet. We also took an awesome drive down the cost on a small road that was sometimes one lane... We are already planning to go back next year...so much to see, so little time. It was really lush and there were flowers everywhere...a photographers paradise!

We finally have internet …now I can post..but, it doesn't look like I will be able to post any pictures because the internet is too darn slow...sorry. They are really nice though!!!
Jeff & I are having a awesome trip…We have seen so much but wish we had way more time. Hawaii is truly paradise. We have travelled to quite a few places in the Caribbean but nothing compares to these islands. We saw the Hawaiian equivalent to the Grand Canyon, we hiked on the lava fields, saw magma, hiked Diamond head, tried shaved ice, walked on a black sand beach and felt the sand between our toes, were amazed by the flowers and the lush fauna, drove around Maui in a mustang convertible (got a bad sunburn….I might add), ate sweet & tasty pineapple until our lips puckered, drank fresh strawberry margarita’s. woke up and had Bailey’s and coffee first thing in the morning, kissed during the sunrise and sunset, but most of all… felt so lucky and glad to be alive and experience this wonderful place together.

We are off on a cruise to Hawaii !

Okay....Jackie & Andrew were troopers! It was raining/snowing then windy and these guys indulged in my wanting to take umbrella shots. After a few portraits inside we were done and noticed it was now snowing outside. I spent a wonderful Sunday ...actually from 10:30 until midnight with Shelley Vandervelde of SVP Photography. www.shelleyvandervelde.com
She taught me some photoshop techniques, design of collages as well as studio lighting. I tend to use mostly natural light but I LOVE some of the dramatic lighting that can be achieved with the studio light's. I am hooked and I see some new lighting in my near future. Shelley's buddy in the one pic is Mozart, aka.. "Moe" he is still a pup, a very large puppy that thinks he can still fit in her lap, he's super cute. If anyone is looking for photoshop lessons or studio lighting lessons please contact Shelley. She is an awesome person and a super teacher... I had a great day with her :) Thanks Shell.
